Disclaimer
Our calculators give estimates and general information, not tax advice. Here is what that means before you rely on a result.
In short
- Results are estimates to help you plan, not a substitute for your Company Tax Return or professional advice.
- We're independent and have no connection with HMRC or the UK government.
- Check anything important with HMRC guidance or a qualified accountant before you act on it.
Not tax advice
Business Tax Calc provides calculators and general information about UK business tax. Nothing on the site is tax, legal, accounting or financial advice, and using it doesn't create a professional relationship between you and us. The calculators work only with the figures you enter and the assumptions explained on each page. They don't know everything about your company, such as losses, group relief, special reliefs or how HMRC views your particular circumstances.
Who builds the calculators
Business Tax Calc is built by Syed Aqeeq Abbas, a software engineer. He isn't a qualified accountant or tax adviser. That's why every calculator is tested against published worked examples and HMRC rules, why the working is shown step by step, and why the sources are listed on every page. You can read more on our about page and see the test results on our methodology page.
Not affiliated with HMRC
Business Tax Calc is independent. It isn't connected with, approved by or endorsed by HM Revenue and Customs or any other part of the UK government. Official guidance is on gov.uk (opens in new tab).
Rates and rules can change
Tax rates, limits and rules change, often at a Budget, and sometimes with little notice. We check our figures against gov.uk regularly and show the date they were last checked on each calculator, but there may be a delay before a change appears on the site. Always check that the rates for your accounting period are still current.
When to get professional advice
Speak to a qualified accountant or tax adviser, for example a member of ACCA, ICAEW or the Chartered Institute of Taxation, before you file a return, make a payment, or make a significant decision based on a result. This matters most if your company is part of a group, has associated companies, receives investment income, has losses, or has an accounting period that isn't a simple 12 months.
Adverts and links
Some pages may show adverts or contain links to products such as accounting software or business bank accounts. Where we may earn a commission from a link, we'll say so next to it. Adverts and commissions never change how a calculator works or what result it gives.
Our responsibility
We take care to keep the calculators accurate, but we can't guarantee that every result is complete, correct or up to date, and we don't accept responsibility for decisions you make based on them. Our terms of use set out our liability in full.
